reserving your family history takes time and energy, but the gift to your children and grandchildren -- an understanding of the people who came before them -- is priceless.
I have taught thousands of people how to preserve and display their family documents, photos and genealogical information. Here are my display secrets and favorite resources...
DOCUMENTS
Acids within photographs, documents and mounting albums can break them down, causing each to yellow and become brittle. Use paper, adhesive tapes, glues and other products that are marked "buffered" or "acid-free."
Documents and newspaper clippings that contain acid can be preserved with deacidification spray, available from Preservation Technologies, www.ptlp.com. Warning: Don't use the spray on photos.
